On Call support
If you don’t want to hire an advocate, but you’d like some advice and direction on what to do next, or how to handle an upcoming meeting, we’re here to help! If this is you, we can work with you on a consulting basis where you only pay for the time we talk!
We can propose strategies and make recommendations and provide guidance to you prior to, or after, your IEP meeting.
We eliminate the immense pain and heartache that
can come with achieving quality education for your child through the individual education process
(IEP). Our non-attorney support will help you to save a third of what it costs to hire an attorney.
Even better, with our vast experience in helping families to receive appropriate educational
support and Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for their children, we are equipped with
the proper tools to guide your child to lifelong success.
Ask Now Advocacy offers full-scale services to help you successfully place your child in enriching
and results-oriented learning environments.
Let Us Help You To …
• Protect your child’s civil rights
• Evaluate your case and review how the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of
2004 (IDEA 2004) can help your child have fair access to state-of-the art learning tools
• File due process complaints when your child’s unique needs are not met
• Design and implement strategies to help you meet the educational and public service goals for
your child
• Explain in easy-to-comprehend terms the IEP and 504 plans—legally binding documents for provision
of services between school districts and parents
• Attend eligibility and school meetings and work with you to negotiate on behalf of your child
• Carefully review and explain any documents you receive or exchange throughout the process
• Monitor the effectiveness of the plan throughout the school year
• Work with schools to identify opportunities that will help your child
an appropriate education
• Provide ongoing consultation and support during what can be a highly emotional process
It’s Not You..
Having a child with a disability can be overwhelming, confusing and full of moments that cause
further discouragement. When at an IEP meeting, for example, you will be outnumbered and it will
feel like those within the school system hold all the cards.
The stakes are high when it comes to your child’s education. Why wouldn’t it be with your child’s
future at stake? As much as we may not want to admit this, districts can be manipulative and
deceiving. Let us help you to navigate the laws and rights of the IDEA 2004 to ensure your child
receives the services they need to be successful and to which they are entitled under federal law.
Leverage Our Experience
Our Bay Area organization was founded by Mandy Tapia, a mother of two young children who have
autism. Throughout Mandy’s journey of making sure her children have access to quality learning, she
came face-to-face with the often unjust and frustrating environment of public education.
But there was an upside. Because Mandy’s success depended on her own self-education in writing
IEPs, filing due process complaints and successfully settling due process, her passion and personal
success led her to help others, saving them thousands of dollars and hours upon hours of headache
in the meantime.

Mandy, my advocate Angel, truly has been a lifesaver with dealing with the school district and has been a staunch defender of my son's rights over getting the services and placement that is best for his needs. She honestly cares about what is best for him and stuck by me and fought until we got him placed in the best possible school with the behavioral supports he needs. She never made me feel judged and was always supportive. We love you Mandy...even our birds and dogs love you...you are family :)

Mandy is very knowledgable of the IEP process. She has extensive experience dealing with different school districts. She does a great job prepping me before the meeting by setting my expectation, and explaining our game plan. She was able to foresee which route the school may take such that we are better prepared and I was not hit by a nasty surprise.
Mandy has very good manner during IEP meetings. Unfortunately we had to deal with some very abrasive personnels. Mandy handled the intimidation and bullying professionally and politely. However, she did not let them muffled her by asking legitimate and important questions in various forms.
She is understanding of the pressure and worry parents feel while dealing with the school district. She would patiently let me know not to stress about it when I start to think too much. She always responded assertively and confidently when the school came up with unnecessary suggestions or demands to cause stress or fears.
Mandy did a classroom observation for my son and identified lots of the area he needed support where he was not getting. She had seen so many assessments and reports that she knew what is decent and what is not.
When school dragged out our IEE request, Mandy knew what to do to push the process along to get their approval sooner.
Even our SARC case manager commented that Mandy knew really well of what she was doing after attending one of our IEP meetings.
At the time of this writing, we are working with numerous professionals to get our IEE done. It has been a long process. I cannot imagine what kind of pressure I would be under, or how my son will end up if Mandy hasn't been there to help us this year.

When we started out trying to get services for our daughter, I thought I didn't need an advocate. I thought I could do it all on my own because I am smart and well versed in much of the system. I thought since I only have limited amounts of money, why would I spend it on an advocate rather than on tutoring or something that directly helped my daughter? I was so wrong. Nothing has helped my daughter more than hiring Ask Now!
I fought for several years to get the help my daughter needs from our school district, but I was getting nowhere until I finally decided I had to get some help, and Ask Now has been worth every penny!
Mandy, is amazing at what she does, and I have had several of the people who have been in the IEP meeting with us, ask me for Mandy's contact info because they were so impressed with how she handles the meetings. She asks the tough questions, she doesn't take "no" for an answer, and she is there to support you when you need help knowing what to do. When we finally got a diagnosis for my daughter's condition, Mandy was there to help me process that and know what to do next.
We have been using Ask Now now for almost a year, and now, I can't imagine having to do this without Mandy. She now works with us for both of our kids IEPs, and it has been the best investment we have made. Before I had her, I signed off on IEPs that were completely inadequate, but I didn't know poorly done they were because I had nothing to compare it to. Mandy has been doing this for years, and she knows what to look for and how to tell when something is done right.
To anyone who is thinking about hiring an advocate but not sure if they should spend the money, please do it for the sake of your child. I wish I had hired Mandy sooner! Ask Now truly is your child's biggest ally!
